WiZmed

The WiZmed Foundation

Kit shouldn't decide who becomes a doctor.

The equipment list is the part of the degree nobody budgets for.

WiZmed started at UCT in 2020 because two medical students kept watching their classmates pay far too much for equipment the degree simply required. Bringing the price down helped most of them. The Foundation is for the ones it didn't reach.

How it's funded

Supporting WiZmed = supporting students

Three mechanics, all of them already running. Buying something you needed anyway is the whole contribution.

A portion of every purchase

Every order on this site contributes. No campaign, no round-up at checkout, no opt-in — it is simply part of how the business is priced.

R10 from every WiZpin

The enamel pins were made for this. Ten rand from each one goes straight to the equipment fund.

Direct equipment donations

Stethoscopes, otoscopes and clinical kit donated outright to students who would otherwise start a rotation without them.

What it has actually done

The Impilo Relief Fund

Clinical equipment donated to University of Cape Town students through the Impilo Relief Fund — reported by UCT News.

The medical equipment drive

A standing drive run with UCT's Department of Health Sciences Education Transformation and Equity Committee, alongside the clinical skills department and hospital staff.

Medical and rehab students both

Automated otoscopes and diagnostic kit for students across medicine and the health and rehabilitation sciences, not only MBChB.

A portion of every purchase supports the WiZmed Foundation — accessible healthcare equipment across Africa.
