WiZscrubs are the scrubs WiZmed makes in South Africa: Basic 2.0, a unisex everyday set, and Comfort 2.0, a fitted four-way stretch range, with long-sleeve underscrubs, a softshell jacket and scrub caps to go with them. The range started with two lines in 2023 and has been reworked since around what students and clinicians tell us on the wards.
Where WiZscrubs started
WiZmed was started in 2020 by two medical students at the University of Cape Town, Ashraf Moosa and Waheed Amanjee, to make good medical equipment easier for students to get. Scrubs were a natural next step: every student needs several sets, and most were wearing whatever they could find.
When we launched WiZscrubs, there were two lines: a classic range in cotton for a traditional look, and a comfort range in four-way stretch fabric for people working long hours who wanted a closer fit that moves with them. Both were built around pocket space for pens and small tools, and a price students could manage.
The current range keeps that same split, everyday value and stretch comfort, but the fabrics, cuts and sizes have changed with what we learned.

Basic 2.0: the everyday set
Basic 2.0 is our most popular scrubs and the entry-level choice. It is made from AIRWEAVE, a lightweight 100% polyester with a woven-in mechanical stretch, in a unisex regular fit. The top has a phone pocket and a double pen pocket; the pants come with a jogger cuff or an open hem and a drawstring waist.

Because students need more than one set, Basic 2.0 also comes as a Pair Pack, the Starter Three and a five-set Week Pack, with the size and colour of every top and every pair of pants chosen separately.

Comfort 2.0: stretch and a closer cut
Comfort 2.0 builds on our original comfort range. It is a soft 95% polyester, 5% spandex four-way stretch that resists wrinkles. The tops are cut separately for women and men, and the unisex straight-leg pants have a thigh cargo pocket with phone and pen pockets. It is sold from XS to 4XL in nine colours.

Layers for cold shifts
For cold shifts and chilly theatres, there are layers. The women's and men's long-sleeve underscrubs are 95% cotton and 5% elastane, cut to lie flat under a scrub top, with extra-long sleeves. They come in nine colours from XXS to 4XL.
Over the top goes the WiZscrubs Comfort Jacket, a wind-resistant softshell made in South Africa, in black or navy from XXS to 2XL. The Winter Warmer bundles, Basic and Comfort, put a scrub set, the jacket and an underscrub in one order.

Caps, badges and the Scrub Run
The WiZ Scrub Cap Pro is breathable poly-rayon-spandex with an adjustable tie-back and room for braids, locs or a bun, one size in ten colours. To finish the uniform, the WiZ Badge is an engraved stainless steel name badge with your name, role and logo.
We also make scrubs for the UCT Scrub Run. The 2026 edition is a Basic 2.0 set with the Scrub Run, Red Cross and Surg Soc logos embroidered on it.

Basic 2.0 and Comfort 2.0 are different cuts with different charts, so measure yourself rather than going by another label. Our scrubs size guide has every chart in centimetres and shows how to measure. You can collect free from us in Cape Town on weekdays between 10:00 and 16:00, or we deliver nationwide.
